Lime's Chief Executive Officer, Wayne Ting, a Chinese American himself, understands the significance of celebrating diversity and giving back to the communities they serve. Lime values the contributions of community members within the company and actively supports various initiatives, including those that celebrate AAPI heritage.

As part of their commitment to diversity, Lime has an employee relations group called Calamansi, named after a citrus fruit used in Filipino cuisine. Calamansi organizes internal events, such as bringing in influential AAPI leaders to speak to employees and sharing family recipes, to foster a sense of inclusion and appreciation for different cultures.

Why Lime Chose to Partner with Kin On

Victor Long, Senior Operations Manager for Seattle, explained why Lime chose to partner with Kin On for AAPI Heritage Month. Growing up as a second-generation Chinese American, Long had heard about Kin On and was impressed by their strong connection with the Asian American community. Kin On offers multilingual programs to assist those whose first language is not English, making their services tailored to the AAPI community.

Long reached out to Kin On's donations chair, discussed Lime's goals and ambitions, and found them to be receptive to the partnership for AAPI Heritage Month. Lime strategically places the vehicles based on ridership, and the operations team ensures they are accessible to riders, keeping track of their usage and locations to optimize availability.

Lime's Support for Kin On and AAPI Month

Lime plans to visit Kin On, located in the Chinatown-International District (CID), to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month. They will offer free lessons for members of the Kin On community who want to take a test drive. Lime's riders typically range in age, with an average in their 30s, but they also see older riders, especially on Lime e-bikes.

This partnership with Kin On is just one of Lime's collaborations throughout the year. They have more partnerships planned, including one for Pride Month in June. Lime remains committed to celebrating diversity, supporting local communities, and making a positive impact.
